About Us

Mukuru community justice centre

Mukuru community justice centre is a community based organization of human rights defenders from different formations and groups from mukuru informal settlements who are working on different human rights issues to offer solidarity and work together for a just society

Majority of Mukuru residents work in industrial area which is in close proximity and local construction sites. There are so many human rights violations that affect the development of the community. The major vice is poverty, police brutality and extrajudicial killings, sexual and gender based violence, forced evictions and land grabbing, lack of political accountability.

Mukuru Community Justice Centre aims in achieving a free and just Community, that respects human rights.

With all state structural violence happening in the community as community activist we saw there was need to rise up against impunity through documentation of all human rights violations, advocacy and giving the community hope for a just mukuru society.

We have managed to do a community participatory research on access to education in Embakasi south where we reclaimed a grabbed public primary school mukuru community centre formally Goodrich group of schools.
