Police Accountability and Extrajudicial Killings
Mukuru Community Justice Centre assist affected community members to access Justice through criminal justice system and relevant government institutions. National Police Service is one of them, for many years relationship between Mukuru Community and police has not been good.
National Police Service motto is “Service to all” but in Mukuru police are known of the following;
● Arbitrary arrest and malicious prosecutions.
● Extrajudicial Killings and Enforced Disappearance.
● Extortion.
● Police abuse of power.
Mukuru Community Justice Centre walks with the community and assists in bringing sanity in the National Police Service by following the law through the Constitution and the Justice system.
We also work closely with relevant government and independent institutions that are in place to Oversight the police to find Justice for our community against the rogue police institutions and personnel. Such institutions are:
● Independent Police Oversight Authority
● Internal Affairs Unit
● Kenya National commission on Human rights.
